The Full Moon falls at 1º Capricorn, 9:07 PM ET on June 21st. We now enter a Full Moon phase, where we begin to create foundations and structures from that New Moon. This is specifically true as the Moon becomes full to the brim in Capricorn. We are asked to confront our own personal barriers, walls, and fortresses. (I think it is important to note that this is one of two Capricorn Full Moons we will experience this year — there is a definite theme of beginning and ending).
Saturn is the leader of this Full Moon, where it redefines, restructures, and rebuilds all that has come into focus over the last few weeks. We know that path isn’t always easy, but through hard work comes reward — every time. Saturn isn’t just about obstacles, but also the pinnacle. We have ascended the mountain and made it to the peak, but we have a different perspective on life from up here. So, to rest peacefully on top of that mountain, we must be willing to let some things go. At this Full Moon, we are invited to see how expansion is found outside of the boundaries set before us. This is a commitment to our growth, our fullness, and to those new perspectives.
Actually, this Full Moon comes with some ease around it. The Sun is caught in connection to Mercury and Venus. There is a general feeling of homeostasis, as these planets rejoice with one another. This trilogy of Cancerian placements creates spaciousness and nourishment – pointing to where we can feel into our desires for safety. Since Saturn leads the Full Moon, the overall feeling is quite stabilizing. Allowing us to effectively be in our emotions – claiming and naming every feeling that may arise.
Mercury has just come into alignment with the Sun and with Venus, and our thoughts are not only meant to be shared – but also to bring full awareness to our desires. To enhance this energy, Mars harmoniously connects with Mercury and Venus. We may be asked to be more visible, witnessed, or seen. People are listening, so what are you saying? Mercury’s importance at this lunation teaches us the value of reciprocity and the power we find in our exchanges with those around us. We are told to remain flexible. But how can we find flexibility under a Capricorn lunation?
Perhaps rigidity isn’t permanent, as structures become more malleable than we once thought. We model and mold new pieces out of the clay of our minds from our own hands. Over time, it will harden, but just a little water can bring it back to a working state. This is the significance of the Cancer/Capricorn axis. Nothing is truly as immovable as we sometimes think. With a little nourishment, we can allow ourselves to let go of the “permanent” structures that don’t suit us anymore, making room for new, flexible structures in their place.
It is time to douse and rework the clay in our lives, so we can mold what we need out of what we have.
If you have any personal planets in your chart at 0º to 6º or 26º to 29º, you will feel the effects of this Full Moon the most. Especially those with strong Cardinal placements. So, let’s break this down by sign! Always read Sun, Moon, and Rising.
ARIES TO CANCER
Aries & Aries Rising
This full moon is highlighting two of the angles in the chart. When emphasis is placed here, we’re accessing the anchors in the life. This is an opportunity to think big!
Full moons highlight a polarity, the dance of opposite themes that we must balance to reach a state of equilibrium. For Aries, this polarity exists with the Moon in the most public place of the chart, the house associated with career or public life, and the Sun in the place called “The Subterranean”, a place of ancestry, roots, and home. You might be pondering work/life balance.
Saturn is the host of this lunation, and is currently transiting a place connected to the subconscious and dreams. Saturn was historically the gateway to the gods, and not only reminds us of our limits, but also connects to the mysteries of the unseen. Saturn is leading from a place that is rarely accessed in our conscious life. With Saturn in Pisces, and leading here, you tread the place of secrets and of structures built “behind the scenes” . Saturn provides the practical ways to edit the story around career goals or reputation, but from a place of inspiration. There is a creative connection here between the luminaries and Neptune. You might also find you feel the need for rest and alone time. Often our best creative ideas come through a little solitude!
There is also great potential for research, dream work, and any other creative practice such as journaling that you enjoy doing alone.
Taurus & Taurus Rising
The full Moon in Capricorn for Taurus is connected to a place of ideals. Full moons are a time of release for the purpose of making space. As they connect us to themes of opposites, we’ve reached a space of learning and teaching. Saturn is hosting this full moon from a place associated with peers and colleagues or groups of friends.
Taurus brings to mind impeccable standards, and exquisite taste. The last few months may have brought about changes to your personal ethos. Jupiter spent the last year helping you conceive and grow new parts of your identity
Now there comes an opportunity to share your knowledge. Shedding the skin of old beliefs might begin to feel natural, or better yet, necessary. This might also be a period in which you separate from friends you’ve outgrown. Saturn is the leader here, as the ruler of the Capricorn moon, and might be addressing friendships or groups that no longer support your new vision. Separation doesn’t always have to be permanent, this just might be a moment in which you start to shine with newfound confidence. Neptune adds a little glamour and inspiration to a place associated with hopes and dreams. Connections with new or different groups of people are quite possible at this time. You might find that the nature of the changes you’re experiencing open up new worlds to further this development of self. The Sun and Venus are spending time together in the house of siblings and daily life.
Don’t ignore the pull to keep things “closer to home” if you hear those voices calling.
Gemini & Gemini Rising
Geminis have a lot to look forward to this full moon as Capricorn is the house associated with debts and obligations. This lunation brings light to places that tend to be hidden or obscured from view. As full moons allow us to cleanse and release, the elimination of burden associated with debt is one possibility. The light is brightest in a place of “soul contracts”.
It might be a great opportunity to focus on relationships that are out of balance. As this is also the house of “other people’s money” and debts (as well as inheritance!) This could be just the opportunity to take control of your finances. Venus, Mercury, and the Sun are all opposing the moon from the house associated with your own resources. This planetary combination suggests solutions. With Jupiter now firmly in your identity house, you might have newfound confidence.
This month is all about finding agency through your own mettle, creating your own foundation. How do you feel resourced? How do you cultivate self-esteem? What gives you a sense of security? Saturn is the leader here, and is ruling this celestial event from the house known as “The Subterranean”. It connects you to the most private of places. Saturn has been in the family and ancestry house since March of 2023. The connection here could be as simple and as literal as the decision to take out a loan to improve your home. It could be more complex and a deep dive into the ways your parents earned and spent money that you inherited. If the latter, you have an opportunity to create a new financial narrative that better supports your goals for the future.
I like the potential for this moon to give you financial confidence and independence.
Cancer & cancer Rising
This month is all about relationships for Cancer. The full moon is happening in a place that is associated with the setting of the sun. Historically, this house held all the pleasurable things that occurred at the end of the day. Sunset.
This place is all about our devoted one-on-one connections. From a more modern perspective, spouses, significant others, or business partners fall into this realm, but it’s definitely not a group dynamic. It’s all about intimacy. Therapy also falls into this category, as the dedicated work done in an intimate setting would be a seventh house activity. With a full moon in such a vulnerable place, emotions may be extra tender.
This lunation is led by Saturn in a Pisces from the place connected to our highest ideals. Potential for revelations or spiritual awakenings within relationships are possible, as well as the possibility to discover and address changes that need to be made. Saturn connects us to security and is especially powerful in creating lasting results. A full moon in the seventh house could also illuminate the nature of long concerted efforts in such a union. If you aren’t in a relationship, the full moon could be creating space for one that you desire. Saturn leads the way by creating new ideals, as well as admirable standards, and the moon allows old concepts to fall away. Saturn will show us where there is a leaky container. As always with full moons, space is created.
It’s a great time to think about commitments! How do you want to be held? What deserves your efforts? What would you like in return?
LEO TO SCORPIO
Leo & Leo Rising
This is a great time to create balance. This past year Jupiter blessed you with growth and attention in the top of the chart, a place associated with reputation or career. The full moon this month is highlighting a place often associated with labor or service. Cancer season might be a time when you crave rest, or time off. The Sun in Cancer lights up your twelfth house which is a place of pondering, gestation, or quiet. Allow your mind to wander and your body to rest. Ultimately, the full moon is telling you it’s time to slow down. You don’t need to take every project that comes your way. It’s not necessary to prove yourself. The moon is in a house associated with sacrifice.
Saturn rules Capricorn, and is leading this lunation from the eighth house. This is a place associated with other people’s resources. As Saturn is a teacher, and not a tyrant, you might have to get clear about your obligations. Is a sense of duty or debt causing you to burn the candle at both ends?
Jupiter has now entered your 11th house, a place where it rejoices. It’s often said that when this occurs, we reap the rewards of our work. How can you lighten your load to receive these gifts?
Use this full moon to pay attention to your health, and the need to restore order and balance. Let your schedule get a little looser. Do something alone, just for you!
Virgo & Virgo Rising
Virgos are examining the nature of joy this month. Saturn leads the question, “How do you express or embody joy?” Virgo, often your love language is that of care and service. This full moon might lead you to places where you receive care and service. With Saturn in the 7th, you might begin to notice where you have been taking on more than your fair share. You might be pondering the nature of commitment. Full moons release, and a Saturn led lunation is connected to limits.
The moon this month is in a house associated with Venus. Her themes are that of beauty, children, pleasure, art, and music. . This is a great time to cultivate a creative practice. If you’re inspired by music or theater, buy tickets to a show. Museum visits or nature walks could also be wonderful this time of year.
The Sun, Venus, and Mercury are in a house connected to both support and groups. This is a great opportunity to find inspiration through new connections, and assess old ones. The hard work of setting boundaries comes to mind with this lunation. Virgo, are you tirelessly giving and finding yourself short on time or energy to pour back into your own container?
This is a great time to connect with others, either romantically or creatively, without putting in all the effort. This month could be a great time to learn new ways of relating. If there are children in your life, you might find that they are messengers of joy themselves!
Libra & Libra Rising
Libra is a sign associated with balance and fairness. It feels fitting that the polarity this month occurs across the axis that balances the most public with the most private. There is a pull between what you do out in the world or career life, and that which is personal.
You might be reaching a crossroads in which a choice around time management is necessary. Maybe career has been the focus and now the emphasis is directed towards family. The moon sits in the house called “the subterranean” for this lunation. This is an insular place, one of comfort and family. You might be pulled to care for loved ones, or to stay close to home. When we have a full moon in this place, stories of ancestry, or that of our childhood may come up for examination. TheHellenistic tradition ties this place to fathers. Creating a new narrative around fatherhood or your paternal experience could prove to be very healing.
Saturn is the leader here, and in a house that is associated with both work and sacrifice. An invitation to release work that is not necessary could present itself. Saturn has the incredible gift of fortitude, and also that of limits. The moon and some extra time at home could show you where that Libran balance might be found. Perhaps you discover that you can delegate some of your responsibilities to spend more time with those you love.
Allow retreat and rest to prevail, without it there is no true balance.
Scorpio & Scorpio Rising
Scorpio has a way of observing the world and taking in information. That skill is highlighted this month. The third house represents our daily environment and the communication therein. With a full moon here, there might be a need to alter the nature of daily habits and routines. We might find that the full moon creates a sort of busyness, one in which our interactions and their implications facilitate change. As this is a place of learning, writing, and communication in general, you could find yourself responding to invitations to collaborate on new projects. You could also decide that it’s time to take on a new course of study. You might find magic in the mundane of the day to day.
Collaborations with those in your field or whom you see regularly are also possible for this lunar cycle. Often with planets transiting this place we reconnect to siblings or cousins.
This was called “the temple of the goddess” and there exists ancient lore that connects this place to the goddess Ceres, the goddess of the hearth. By the scheme of planetary joys, this is where the moon was said to rejoice. As the moon was connected to fortune, the daily environment of the life, or external circumstances, the full moon is poised to illuminate the parts of your daily life that can be infused with magic through the process of release. Saturn connects Scorpio to limits through the house of pleasure.
There is great wisdom to be found when we balance the things that bring us joy with the duty and responsibility of daily life. This month brings an opportunity for precisely that!
SAGITTARIUS TO PISCES
Sagittarius & Sagittarius Rising
This month Sagittarius is taking a look at both personal resources and self esteem. The 2nd house was said to be invisible as well as a “gate” to the places below the horizon, away from public view. Often, transits through this place can feel elusive. This is your opportunity to get clear about what helps you to feel resourced.
With major growth this year having taken place around work you do for others, as well as areas of sacrifice, you might just have a vision of what you want for the future. In April, Jupiter and Uranus made a once-every-fourteen-years conjunction in your 6th house. Is the nature of your job about to get an upgrade? Do you have plans to change the weight of your duties or responsibilities? Have you recently been promoted? With the full moon lighting up the 2nd house of resources, you’re likely thinking about the nature of security. The opportunity to take control of your financial situation is here. Are there plans in place for creating new streams of income? Have you decided you want to make some investments?
Saturn rules this full moon from the most private place in the chart. As this connects the lunar story to one of family, childhood, and ancestry, the breakthroughs might feel tender. It’s very likely that some old stories about your self worth come into the light to be released. Often we can be connected to our family of origin’s perception of wealth, or of lack. You can connect to a new narrative through this lunation. As Saturn is also in the place associated with your literal home, you could be faced with decisions that are more mundane. Perhaps you’re considering some home improvements, and need to weigh your options to maintain a sense of financial responsibility.
This lunar cycle has your focus on wealth, and how to create it.
Capricorn & Capricorn Rising
For Capricorns, the moon falls in the house associated with self. This is a place connected to appearance, to the physical body, and to the nature we present to the world. This place is “The Helm”. It has influence in that it represents the direction in which you steer your life. A full moon here connects you to the physical experience of your existence. Where are you going?
Capricorn is familiar with the steely nature of Saturn, as it is the ruler of your ascendant. Saturn is connecting you to your deepest self once again through this lunation and from the house of communication. Saturn is transiting your third, and that house was also connected to divination and magic. The third house is a place of thinking, perception, and reflection. Saturn connects us to that which we cannot see. Saturn provides both limits and a realistic view of the efforts we must undertake to become our best selves.
This lunation feels important, and maybe connected to the culmination of Pluto’s time in this place, connected more deeply through the emotional realms of the moon.
This lunation allows you release old versions of yourself, and to connect more deeply to practices that communicate the lessons you’ve experienced. You might be drawn to a new aesthetic, a version of you that’s wiser or more at ease. This could also be a moment in which you commit to pursuing new studies, ones that take your vision of yourself to the next level!
Aquarius & Aquarius Rising
For Aquarius, this moon highlights the subconscious. Capricorn is your 12th house, the place that represents magic before it released in the physical world. The moon here feels comfort in secrets, not necessarily in a bad way, but rather as something precious, protected. Illumination here is hard to see, and often transits to the 12th are not fully recognized until the next cycle. I like to think of this house as a place of “perpetual wandering”. 12th house transits can feel like diving into dream space, or “walking” through the subconscious looking for treasure. Aquarius, you’re connecting with a place of solitude, reflection, and your deepest intuition.
In a birth chart, we can sometimes see the circumstances leading up to birth presented here. By transit, it can draw attention to ideas that need opportunity to grow.
Aquarius by nature is Saturnian, but in a much different way than Capricorn. There is however solidarity between these two signs in terms of limits. This lunar cycle might create existential questions around what feels sustainable in your resources. The reason for this is Saturn’s lead from another invisible place, the 2nd house.
Of all the signs in the zodiac, Aquarius is being initiated into a meditation on what grows in the dark. This could be a moment in which you find ways to feel more financially stable. You might dream up a new source of revenue, or even get creative by adjusting investments or ways of spending that overextend you.
Pisces & Pisces Rising
A lot of personal work has occurred since March of 2023 for you Pisces. The ruler of this full moon is Saturn, a planet that has been transiting your first house for quite some time. Of all the places in the chart, Saturn has been helping you develop new parts of your identity.
The lunation itself, this Capricorn full moon is highlighting community. Perhaps you’ve made new friends or joined a group recently. You might feel called to some kind of action that requires a team. This house was known as the joy of Jupiter, the “house of good fortune”.
The question is, how are you making space for “good spirit? The 11th house is hopes and dreams and places of unexpected support. As full moons illuminate necessary endings, and this one places Saturn, the lord of endings himself at “The Helm”, you might find a part of your old identity falling away with ease.
Neptune is also in your sign, Pisces. Neptune softens hard edges, and you might feel inspired to change something about your appearance that suits your updated vision.
About Vivian of Stars in alignment
Here is a little about Viv in her own words:
I’m a Hellenistic astrologer. I started my journey with modern archetypal astrology (and I still weave a lot of that into my readings). The study of fate and free will through the wandering stars is the basis of my practice. As a deeply spiritual person, I use that as a foundation to help navigate the TIMING of life, through astrology. Compassion and honesty are the foundational pillars of my practice.
I see astrology as divination, and there is alchemy within the process. We ask a question and read the map of the stars to help advise or plan. Together hope and planning can be used to balance the challenges encountered in daily life. Astrology as a tool, especially using Hellenistic timing techniques.
The types of queries which interest me most: personal, deep, traumatic, and engaged with inner work. I’m unafraid of dark, shadowy, or taboo subjects. I’m also thrilled to discuss joyful topics, but it’s not that often we seek advice in the midst of bliss.
I’d like to think of myself as a guide, because what happens when we’re engaged in a reading is pure magic. It can never be entirely planned but is always exactly what we need.
