Transpersonal Planets

The Transpersonal planets are also called “the outer planets” - the ones that we can’t see with the naked eye in the sky. They are past Saturn (the last visible planet), and they represent our ascent into consciousness and enlightenment. In understanding these planets, you have to know about Chiron and how it bridges the personal/social planets to the transpersonal. Saturn is the earthliness and hard work/karma we have to endure before moving into a place of healing (Chiron).

Chiron transits between Saturn and Uranus physically - exposing the pain of our material existence (Saturn), by bringing us the opportunity to transcend these material limitations and move into the Uranian (more insightful and intangible) realms of existence. Chiron is the Wounded Healer - where we feel the greatest pain, but can experience the most profound healing. Chiron in our natal charts points to where we have healing powers as the result of our own deep spiritual wounds. We must face issues of low self-worth and feelings of inadequacy and learn to rise above these issues. We can receive great satisfaction as we learn to use this energy for the healing and love that it has within it.

The Transpersonal planets can be generational influences, but also are our spiritual/healing journey on a personal level. They vibrate higher and at a different frequency than the personal planets. They represent our evolution on our path and how we can bring our otherworldly gifts onto this Earth. Because of the slow moving nature of these planets, we are not as immediately aware of their emphasis on our lives as the others. Many of us won’t live to see the full return of any of these planets in our own charts. But, they manifest themselves in our lives whether we are ready or not. They may feel uncomfortable at first when we begin to step into their light and energy. Each one signifies a phase in our soul’s journey - and what we must go through every step of the way. Look to the houses and signs of your natal Transpersonal planets to help you find the ways that you learn how to unlock and access their energy.

The Ascent & Enlightenment

This planet changes signs about every 7 years, taking 84 years to fully transit the zodiac. Uranus is the planet that is ruled by Aquarius, and focuses on our societal and social changes. It is progressive and rules revolution and global change. It is our need to have momentum, movement and expression collectively. It is humanitarianism.

Uranus is the jolt or a sudden turning point in our life that can pull the rug out from under us. This leaves us on our backs when we were once planted firmly on the ground. This sparks us to look at our lives from a new perspective, awakening us to new possibilities. Uranus is our insights, intellect, rebellion, independence and where we seek freedom. It’s a spark of something new. It’s our unconventional habits and our rationale. It governs electricity, inventions, democracy, revolutions and our genius. It rules societies, clubs, and any group based on humanitarian or progressive ideals.

It is the higher octave of Mercury - the collective ideas - Divine Connection. This is Total Knowledge - accessed when you begin your journey into healing and spirituality. At its worst, Uranus can be erratic and destructive. At its best, it is open, enlightening and provoking.

Neptune

God of the Sea - The Great Dreamer

The Planet of Mysticism, Spirituality, Sacrifice, Idealism, Arts, Addiction and the Occult.

  • Keywords: Inspiration & Dreams

  • Tarot: The Hanged One - Seeing things from a new perspective

  • Body: Feet, Lymphatic System, Veins & Thalamus

  • Element: Water

  • House: 12th Native, Higher Vibration in 8th House

    • Domicile: Pisces

    • Detriment: Virgo

    • Exalted: Leo

    • Fall: Aquarius

Journey Through the Fog

Neptune changes signs about every 14 years, taking roughly 168 years to fully transit the zodiac. During Neptune transits, we see changes in fashion, culture, art, spiritualism, medicine and drugs - which all fall under its rulership. We also change our belief systems and have periods of chaos that leave us looking to adapt to something new. Major sacrifices are made.

Neptune can wrap around us like a cloud or fog, diminishing our awareness and even blinding us to reality, and the more we try to resist it - the energy can amplify. But the lack of clarity is to allow us to trust our intuition and otherworldly senses - as our material senses “fail” us. Having blind faith and seeing from a higher place are lessons when Neptune is strongly activated. Eventually we come to realize that because we experience our realities with our own emotions, thoughts and beliefs, we have the power to change those and, as a result, change our own worlds/perception. Because of this, Neptune is what we believe, long for, are inspired by and our dreams. It rules our chaos, sacrifices, idealism and imagination. It also rules our addictions, escapism and highest inspirations. It is the collective consciousness, artistry, empathy and the universal truths - psychic tendencies, intuition, clairvoyance and extrasensory.

It is the higher octave of Venus (and some cases the Moon) - love without bounds, selfless and dreamy - Divine Love. It is Total Perception. Neptune can be euphoria, unending bliss and psychic insight - but at its worst it can deception and total disillusion.

Pluto

God of the Underworld - The Great Transformer

The Planet of Transformation, Regeneration, Rebirth, Desires, Obsessions and the Taboo.

  • Keywords: Power & Transformation

  • Tarot: Judgment - The rebirth and your inner calling

  • Body: Sexual Organs, Reproductive System, Cell Regeneration & Psychological Disorders.

  • Element: Water & Fire

  • House: 8th Native, Higher Vibration in 10th House

    • Domicile: Scorpio

    • Detriment: Taurus

    • Exalted: Aries & Pisces (some say Leo)

    • Fall: Libra & Virgo (some say Aquarius)

The Descent & Rebirth

Pluto transits one sign every 14–30 years, taking about 254 years to transit the entire zodiac. So, no one person will see the entirety of its transit in their lifetime. This marks the movement of the planet as significant, as it defines a generation.

Pluto can put us through Hell and back. It strips us bare and takes away what we think we want or need the most. It forces us to learn to let go, release and surrender. We are in a way born again. A phoenix-like energy - possessing the meaning of us stepping into our own personal power. It is deeply transformative. As a result (and on a personal level) Pluto is how we transform. It is our power, secrets, renewals, survival and major changes. It rules taboos, control and cycles. It is absolutes, extremities, evolutions, incredible feats, mass movements, and the need to cooperate or share with another. It rules massive wealth, big business, surgeries and exposing the light on the truth. It dives deep below the surface to unearth what is hidden - showing face to whatever may be there.

It is the higher octave of Mars - collective action, a subtle but hot and simmering fire - Divine Power. You may not understand the motive, but it exists. Pluto is the Total Power. It is our awareness of our potential and the ability to harness our strengths to evolve. At its worst, it can be the abuse of power - and the control and manipulation that goes along with that.

NOTE

In reading these planets in your natal chart, it is best to look at the House they fall in and the aspects they make to Personal planets. The aspects made to other Transpersonal planets are more generational influences, or at least may be an undertone but won’t be as directly effective as those made to Personal planets. Also, pay attention to where these planets transit in your natal chart and how it relates to your chart. This can indicate the areas in which you may feel some of the shifts or changes occurring in your life.

Example: When Uranus is transiting a personal planet in your chart, you may be undergoing a major release - trying to find a sense of freedom or seeking liberation in your life. It could be that things get shaken up and you have to re-evaluate your direction as you gain new insights. The House where it happens can show where in your life this will occur and the aspects it makes to your Personal planets will be how this will happen.

This is not a fully comprehensive or exhaustive list of the utilization or understanding of these planets, but it is a great baseline to start your exploration as you dive more into Astrology.
