Curate your own styling board

Part of the magic of this book is to make it interactive and connected to you more personally. With that, I wanted to share an opportunity for you to create your own mood board for yourself to support you in discovering your true style! You can work with this as much as you’d like and within any parameters that feel good to you. I have provided prompts for you to help support your discovery but feel free to take any creative or artistic license that you would like. The beauty of this mood board is that you can make as many as you’d like. So feel free to change it seasonally or just work with it to find a core inspiration for your own style. Enjoy!

How To Use It

There are many ways you can work with this mood board. It is created as a PDF file so that you can bring it into Adobe Reader, InDesign, Photoshop, or Illustrator to add your images or visual inspiration. If you don’t have access to those programs, you can easily work with this mood board using Microsoft Word or even Apple Pages. Lastly, you have the option to print it out if you are more tactile and prefer an analog method. It is worth noting that the file is an 11x17 paper. So if printing it out, you may need two sheets of paper for the mood board and another two for the instructions and prompts.
If you are converting it into Microsoft Word, here is a quick tutorial for you to do so:

  • Open the Word.

  • Go to the “File” tab.

  • Select “Open”.

  • Choose this PDF, Microsoft Word will convert it to an editable format.

If opening in an Adobe Program, simply just open the file through your desired program. You can create layers for the visuals so that you always have a template to work off of.

Now that we have the logistics out of the way, get ready to get inspired! Start looking around for what you love or follow the prompts I provide to help narrow down imagery. Keep your favorite magazines, flyers, catalogs, etc close. Feel free to download images as well. You can print and glue or simply digitally create this board to your satisfaction. When choosing the color palette, you can work with colors you love most in your closet, colors that represent your chart placements, or colors in a photo you enjoy. Starting with a photo may be helpful, especially if you are unsure where to begin. Try using the following ways to curate a palette for yourself online/using digital programs:

  • Check out Coolors (https://coolors.co/image-picker) to upload a photo and see the suggested palette they recommend on there (pick only the colors that resonate)

  • Try Canva’s Color Palette Generator here (https://www.canva.com/colors/color-palette-generator/) for a similar approach

  • Or use Adobe’s Eye Dropper Palette Generator Tool to curate a palette for yourself, too

If you prefer a less digital method, you can still use the above programs to help find a palette that works for you and then manually paint, cut out, color-in, etc the empty spaces for your palette on the printed mood board. You can also pay attention to colors that evoke something in you or create a sense of joy when you see them! You can also refer to the mood boards and palettes I created in the book for inspiration, too. Start with looking at your Sun, Moon, Rising, and/or Venus signs. I also want to note that my rule to fashion and color choices is usually to pick what you love and don’t worry if it is in “style” or “season”. You will only ever wear what you love, and no one knows your taste better than you!
