Pisces Paloma Cocktail
Pisces Paloma Cocktail
This cocktail is inspired by the complex nature of a Pisces. Pisces is associated with winter fruits and bright citrus flavors. This drink has fizz, fun, sour notes, sweet highs and salty lows. The tequila is a cleanser while grapefruit is a purifier. Grapefruit has connections to the Moon, making it a perfect base for a New Moon or Full Moon ritual. The addition of lime to this cocktail is to incorporate protection and amplify the healing energy of this citrusy libation. The element compounds in this recipe are all rooted in Water, bringing in the cleansing flow with every sip. This is meant to lift your spirits as we find ourselves exiting winter and preparing for the start of the new astrological year.
Ingredients
2 ounces tequila (skip for mocktail)
2 ounces fresh grapefruit juice, plus wedges for garnish
2 ounces sparkling water
½ ounce lime juice
¼ ounce agave nectar or simple syrup, or to taste
Ice
Coarse sea salt, for the rim of the glasses (optional)
Directions
Salt the rim of the glass by rubbing a grapefruit wedge around the edge and dipping it onto a small plate of salt.

Cinnamon Spiced Chocolate Latte
Cinnamon Spiced Chocolate Latte
One of the major ingredients in this latte is the rose. Rose is associated with the element of Water, the planet Venus and with Libra and Cancer (perfect for a Full Moon). Rose is known for its attraction of love, luck and protection. Almost every part of rose can be used. In food, it can also be used for healing. There is a receptive energy to rose. The romantic aspect pulls on Venus and Libra, while the nurturing energy comes in from Cancer and Water. In Tarot, this energy is blended perfectly through the Empress.
This latte has warming properties: cinnamon and coffee (or rooibos tea). Cinnamon is ruled by the Sun and Mars, Leo and Aries and Fire dominating. Coffee is also Fire energy with attachments to Sagittarius and Aries (read my earlier post about coffee). The cooling and Venusian energy of the Rose and Vanilla comes in to balance. This creates a duality - bringing together the receptive and active to build into manifestation. The cocoa aspect of this latte will tip the scales depending on the kind of cocoa you use. The darker the chocolate or closer to cacao it is, the more Fiery and Earthy. The Lighter it is the more Watery and Earthy. I personally used 80% dark chocolate in mine, lending to the energies of Scorpio and Virgo engaging with a more grounding energy and enhancing prosperity and love.
This latte has the perfect activation of passive and active energy. Drink this to feel more in balance and enhance your sense of self-love and understanding. The rose and vanilla will open your heart, while the cinnamon and coffee will boost passion and decrease doubt. The cocoa will add in grounding and amplify the abundance of the cinnamon. Set your intentions while whisking this together and take a minute to sip this coffee creation. Enjoy!

The Astrology of Lemons
The foodstrology of Lemons
lemons are associated with Sun/Moon, Water/air & cancer/leo
Lemon is ruled by both the Sun and the Moon. It is in that paradox that we see their true relationship to one another - a cleansing energy. We cleanse in the light of both of these luminaries. Bright and warm, lemons are illuminating themselves. Yet, too much can be harmful and acidic - just like spending too much time in the Sun. Here, we see how we need to have that balance of light and shadow in our lives like that of the times of day and night. It associated with Cancer and Leo and the elements of Air and Water.
In thinking of the properties of lemon, it has a focus on purifying, cleansing, cleaning, happiness and decision making. Lemon often is correlated to Litha, which falls on the Summer Solstice - the first day of Cancer, furthering its connection with the sign. In blending the properties of Cancer and Leo or the Sun and Moon, Lemon’s ability to aid in decision making shows the power in bringing these energies into alignment (the internal and external self) - much like a perpetual New Moon. It is true clarity - a beginning and action.
In Tarot, it would relate to the High Priestess, Moon and Sun. This is a journey into the depths and using your intuition to guide you, only to come out into a light - bright and optimistic. Yet, the time in the shadow is just as important. Lemon’s element of Water comes from its tie to the Moon, often used in ritual baths or floor washes. It cleanses, much like Water - and yet it uplifts like Air and the Sun, itself. The duality of Lemon lives in its ability to be protect and purify. Existing in the space in-between and knowing you can’t have one energy without the other. It is only in the balance that we can activate the high properties in this citrus fruit.
Use lemon in healing or alleviating stomach pains (Cancer rules the stomach) and increase your immunity and help with circulation (Leo rules the heart and circulation - and the Sun is vitality).

The Astrology of Cranberries
Foodstrology
Foodstrology is the intersection of the esoteric and the mundane. Food has astrological correlations similar to many other things in life. In terms of Astrology, there are practices that do incorporate these two things – especially those that follow Vedic and Medieval Astrology, as well as, Alchemy, Herbal Medicine and Ayurvedic Medicine. I have started to go down the rabbit hole more with the idea of plants, food, Astrology and how they are all connected in some way. For me, the purpose of this is to live more intentionally.
The foodstrology of cranberries
Cranberries are associated with Mars, Water/Fire & Aries/Scorpio
Cranberries are associated with Mars and the elements of Water and Fire, harvested in Scorpio season (ruled by Mars). Cranberries are used for healing, abundance and passion. It is an anti-inflammatory. Mars, as a planet, is actually associated with inflammation, blood, hormones, as well as the head and the pelvic region. Thinking of the pelvic region, the juice of cranberries is a remedy that is common used for UTIs.
The traditional rulers of Mars - Aries and Scorpio - have associations with passion, and yet they are where Venus (love) fall in detriment (working at a weak point). Cranberries are known to promote passion, but soothing it into a stronger love connection - helping cool the heated ways of the Mars energy (adding in that water element).
In terms of Tarot, it would be associated with the Tower. Where things are shaken up and destroyed before we begin the healing process of the Star. Cranberries have a healing property, suggesting after the Tower moment, there will be abundance, renewal and rejuvenation.

To make the Cranberry Shrub, you will need the following ingredients:
